What happened
Weebl and Bob wobble through short exchanges about pie, fish, and other barely connected subjects, punctuated by clipped voices, loops, and songs.
Where it came from
British animator Jonti Picking, performing as Mr Weebl, began the Flash comedy series Weebl & Bob in 2002. Its tiny file-friendly characters and simple motion were deliberate responses to slow PCs and 56K connections.
Why it mattered
Weebl & Bob turned technical limitation into a recognizable comic grammar: economical animation, repeatable sounds, and dialogue strange enough to quote after one viewing.
How it spread
The cartoons moved through personal sites, shared links, Flash portals, and MTV UK licensing, demonstrating how a tiny independent web series could find an audience before video platforms.
