What was this?
The deliberately scruffy animation gives two strange animal faces an earnest, nonsensical song about the moon, clouds, utensils, and cheese. Its limited animation and off-key delivery are the whole joke.
Why it spread
Rathergood hosting and shared Flash links made it an early-web oddity people sent because it was impossible to adequately describe. The recognizable Spongmonkies look then reached a much wider audience through its Quiznos afterlife.

Joel and Alex Veitch released the Spongmonkies’ Flash song through Rathergood in 2002; its character design later crossed into the 2003 Quiznos ads.
