What happened
An off-camera owner tells a German Shepherd about the contents of the meat drawer—especially maple-flavoured bacon—then reveals he ate it all himself. The dog’s timing makes the dubbed exchange feel improbably conversational.
Where it came from
Halifax creator Andrew Grantham made the short for his Talking Animals channel after Clarke’s owners sent him their footage of the dog. Grantham supplied the food-obsessed voices; Clarke supplied the face.
Why it mattered
Ultimate Dog Tease turned a tiny edit into an all-purpose early-2010s comfort watch: short, instantly understandable, and built on the very old joke that pets clearly have opinions. It also showed that a solo online comedy format could travel as far as a traditional broadcast clip.
How it spread
The May 2011 upload raced through YouTube, media clips, and office sharing chains. By year’s end it was YouTube’s top video in the United Kingdom and one of the most watched clips in Canada.
