What happened
A fast, dead-serious musical catalogue turns llamas, ducks, cheesecake, bricks, potatoes, and surreal non sequiturs into a relentlessly catchy Flash singalong.
Where it came from
Burtonearny published The Llama Song on DeviantArt on July 29, 2004, then uploaded it to Newgrounds the same day. The creator identifies this MKII version as rights-cleaned: they wrote, sang, played, and made the piece, using their own or relatives’ photos and credited friend-supplied art.
Why it mattered
The Llama Song shows how Flash comedy could make a complete pop artifact with almost no premise: one creator, lightweight visuals, a hook you could quote after one listen, and enough nonsense for the audience to carry everywhere else.
How it spread
The animation moved from DeviantArt to Newgrounds and then to Albino Blacksheep. Its simple refrain and easy-to-swap visual formula made it ideal material for lyric pages, GIFs, and character-remix versions.
