Foamy delivered rapid, furious monologues about everyday annoyance while Germaine and a recurring cast supplied the comic’s goth, DIY web-cartoon world.
Where it came from
Jonathan Ian Mathers published the first Neurotically Yours comic on September 10, 2001. Cartoons starring Foamy the Squirrel soon followed through his iLL WiLL PrEss site.
Why it mattered
Neurotically Yours captures the webcomic-to-animation path at its most personal: a distinct voice, recurring characters, and no need to sand down its weirdness for a broader platform.
How it spread
The series accumulated an audience through iLL WiLL PrEss, shared Flash cartoons, forums, and creator uploads, making Foamy a recognizable early-2000s web character.
