2020 / Video / TikTok mood and remake format
Dreams Skateboard
A broken-down commute, cranberry juice, and Fleetwood Mac became the most peaceful 22 seconds of 2020.
The original is off-site. HAHrchives preserves the story and a route back to it.
What happened
The video is almost aggressively low-stakes: a highway, a board, a jug of juice, and a man having a nice time. That was precisely the point.
Where it came from
Nathan Apodaca posted a TikTok of himself longboarding to work, sipping Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry and lip-syncing to Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.”
Why it mattered
Dreams Skateboard was proof that viral culture did not need to be frantic. In an anxious year, a tiny piece of sincere ease gave the web a format for briefly feeling normal.
How it spread
It inspired recreations—including one from Mick Fleetwood—while the old song returned to the charts and the simple route-to-work clip became a shared pandemic-era exhale.
