What happened
A parade of badgers, a mushroom, and a snake repeated over an aggressively catchy song. That was the entire proposition, and it was more than enough.
Where it came from
British animator Jonti Picking, known online as Mr Weebl, released the looping Flash animation in 2003.
Why it mattered
Badgers captures a foundational internet-comedy rule: repetition becomes funnier when the loop is good enough. It is less a joke than a shared spell.
How it spread
The animation traveled through the Flash-web ecosystem: Newgrounds, personal sites, shared links, and the office computers of people who absolutely should have been working.
